Want to lead a more sustainable life, but don’t know where to start? Save the environment and your hip-pocket with these handy life hacks.
1. BYO bottle
…of water, that is. A bottle of water from the servo costs more than a litre of fuel, and can take up to 1000 years to break down in landfill.
Your own portable, reusable water bottle costs less than a cent to fill up, and still does the job of keeping you hydrated. It’s a no-brainer – better for your wallet and so much better for the environment.
2. Buy a wash bag
Nothing ruins a delicate cardigan quicker than a massive tumble in your front loader. But hand-washing delicate garments, from the first wash to the final rinse, is a big water waster.
A mesh washing bag is the happy middle ground for time-poor, water-conscious folk who still want their clothes to last longer (that’s you!). Grab a few bags in different sizes – one for your smaller delicates, one for your larger items – and clip your bras together so they don’t snag on the mesh. Boom! Longer lasting clothes.
